Pothos Cutting Care
Use clean cuts, keep nodes under water, and refresh the water often while roots develop.
- Light
- Bright indirect light. Avoid harsh direct afternoon sun while cuttings are rooting.
- Water
- Keep nodes in clean water and change the water every few days.
- Soil
- Move to a loose, well-draining potting mix after roots are a few inches long.
- Temperature
- Average indoor temperatures are best. Keep away from cold drafts.
- Humidity
- Normal household humidity works, but extra humidity can help new growth.
- Common issues
- Yellowing leaves usually mean old water, too much direct sun, or leaves sitting below the waterline.
Care steps
- Cut just below a healthy node.
- Remove leaves that would sit below the waterline.
- Place the node in clean water.
- Refresh water every few days.
- Pot into soil once roots are established.
Start with a healthy vine and cut below a node. Place the cutting in clean water, keep leaves above the waterline, and refresh the water every few days.
